Ashton Hart received word from Covid that his grandpa, whom he hadn’t seen in six years, had died. He was taken aback by the news, but he was also anxious that his grandfather could have left behind a pet.
His instincts were apparently accurate, as he found that his grandfather had a dog that would most likely be killed due to his circumstances.
So, without hesitation, Ashton and his companion set out on a three-hour journey to find the dog known as Oatmilk Latte.
They opted to save the dog from a dark future despite knowing nothing about him and even loved him without knowing him. When they got at his grandfather’s place, they discovered an obese dog that was about to be killed due to severe health issues.
According to Ashton, who spoke to The Dodo,
“Before I acquired my business, I spent much of my professional career working in animal activism, so I wouldn’t let it go.”
Oatmilk Latte was filthy and had matted fur, and they knew he had several health issues as a result of his grandfather’s neglect. These issues didn’t bother them because the abandoned puppy was already his new companion and would be formally adopted in his heart and thoughts.
They had to put the dog in the car and drive another three hours back home since he was really lovely, but he tired fast.
Despite his poor health, Ashton knew his grandfather adored Oatmilk, and the dog plainly adored him as well.
Ashton went on to say:
“She’s a sweetheart, but she’s in a lot of pain.” Every day that passes brings a small improvement, although it is a gradual process. It’s difficult to lose someone, especially a dog. For everything, they rely on us. I believe he liked it in his own way, despite my grandfather’s neglect ».
He will require veterinary care to enhance his health, but with a lot of commitment and activities included in his daily routine, he will be able to recover quickly. They had no clue what they were getting themselves into when they rescued him, but now the pair can’t picture living without Oatmilk Latte.
Although his new owners will do all necessary to make him a perfectly happy dog again, the dog is still in grief.
