Finding out about the improvements in recovering animals whose lives have been tragically cut short is fantastic.
This is the story of Phoenix, a little cat who successfully recovered from severe burns she sustained in a garden fire at her old home in Cleadon, South Tyneside, before finding a new home.
Phoenix was just a few weeks old when she became trapped in the debris beneath the burning shed in June.
The wounds on this animal were severe. He had burns on his eyes, legs, and skin, and his fur was almost singed. Actually, she was living in a hell.
Fortunately, this tiny cat found a new home on Christmas Eve. Luka Atkinson permanently adopted her and cared for her day by day till she was fully recovered.
Luka, who works at the RSPCA Felledge Animal Center, saw Phoenix’s steady improvement. Although at first she was just temporarily under her care, they quickly developed an emotional connection that became stronger every day.
Phoenix was under my temporary care, but I became so connected to her that she is now staying with me forever. She required so much care and attention while she recovered that she stayed by my side round-the-clock.
The most essential thing, according to Luka, is that Phoenix is delighted to have Phoenix with her forever.
At least an hour was spent by Luka every day changing Phoenix’s bandages. Without taking into account the attention he required for his severe injuries, which were visible to everybody.
Because the inner eyelids were entirely visible, drops had to be applied continuously.
“Those were really challenging times. Sincerely, I wasn’t sure whether keeping her alive was the proper course of action.”
She appeared to have been shaved because of how badly scorched she was. Her development has been fantastic, and at 9 months old, she is in excellent condition after being entirely bald and having the bases of her legs scorched.
Love and commitment played a significant role in the development of this cat, who endured severe agony but never gave up on life.
Everyone was in amazed at Phoenix’s recovery, and today he is just like any other cat. He has a wonderful personality and is highly animated. She is lively and upbeat.
