During their 10-week cross-country journey, Emily Trost and her boyfriend Nick stopped at a petrol station in Montana, USA. When the couple left after making their purchase, they discovered a little dog sitting next to their car as if she had been waiting for them.
“Our first hypothesis was that she was the pet of another customer at the petrol station. We went to other people at the petrol station and inquired about her ownership with my partner. Along with her, we awaited any potential rescuers to emerge from the gas station shop.
After a time, a driver who was feeding stray dogs in the neighborhood pulled over and begged the pair to take the puppy with them.
The couple agreed that they would at least take the puppy with them and perhaps attempt to locate a rescue facility to accept her, but after touching her and realizing how adorable she was, they both knew in their hearts that it wasn’t going to happen.
“We knew she was coming home with us within minutes of travelling with her in the car.”
In honor of the state where they discovered it, they chose the name Montana. Ella Montana certainly thought that the couple would adore her and give her some food as she waited by their car that day, but she had no idea how fortunate she would end up being.
